From the dye pot

Dyed this semi solid blue bbr

to go with the novelty yarn and become something awesome for Baby Peach. It will have to wait until I have cast off a few things. Suddenly, I have so many WIPs, plus dyed yarn for customs drying. Here’s a sneak peek of that

Alice romper

This is the licorice twist I dyed to go with these buttons. I’m making a romper (Reid’s Romper) for Baby Peach. It’s flying along, loving this color, so it’s inspiring me! In other projects, these are the Ky Baby hats I made for a friend.

The green is dyed by me. The other is Purewool.

I’ve been snapping up a lot of great blanks lately. Here is some I got from the Bishop Hill spin in

Llama and merino, Broadway is a novelty yarn that will make an awesome skirt on longies. I have some BBR kettle dyeing for that project as we speak. The handspun there was too good of a deal to pass up. I’m not even sure what it will become, a vest for baby, maybe. I ordered from Wool 2 Dye 4 for the first time, some merino and some sparkle, which I’m super excited to use. Planning a Cestari order soon as well!

Here’s my attempt at dyeing a peach-flesh tone for a project that lives in my head for now. I’m pretty pleased! I mixed the color from scratch.

I’ve been working on my Ravelry queue

I sat down this weekend and planned out some fall/winter project for myself, picked out some patterns, lined them up in my Ravelry queue. If you’re on Ravelry and want to stalk me, I’m IL-Nachomama on there. At any rate, I have a lot in mind! I need to finish up a couple of custom longies I’m working on. They are super duper cute so far. I showed off my progress to a mama today and she is psyched, as am I. I’m still working on the gnome mittens. Progress is slow on those since they are my “after all small people are asleep” work.  I’ll be making a cardi for Big Brother.  I think we’re going to dye some yarn up for it together later this week. He loves dyeing with me, so that will be really fun.

A dear friend brought me a surprise bag of awesome yarn from Tuesday Morning of all places. Some of that is going to become my winter hat. Then, I think I’ll have to make some new Glittens. I think I lost one last year, which makes me so so sad. BUT, it’s a super fun pattern, so I’m not sad about having to redo.

For Baby Sister, I’d like to bang out a couple more pairs of S/M size Evie Pants. We just moved up to that size and I feel like it’s going to fit her for a while, probably the whole winter. She seems to be growing more slowly than Big Brother did, which is good for me, since I’m trying to have her wear all wool pants! I definitely want to make her some sort of soft toy, maybe a giraffe. I found a really cute pattern for some fuzzy guys, using some furry yarn. I’m sure I still have some in one of my bins from when those hairy scarves were a big thing.  I’d like to make her a Something Beautiful Shrug, but there is just too much in line in front of that! Maybe for spring…

Made baby W some longies: he better slow up on the growing for winter

April here.   I’m pleased to share that I will be available for custom knit longies!  After some practice, I’m ready to sell.  Please contact me for pricing – my prices will be different than Nachomama’s due to a different pattern style.

Baby W is growing… fast.  Weighing in over 17# in less than 4 mo, he is hard to keep up with on the needles.

Here are a pair of longies I made him for the winter.  So far, they fit.

I also included a photo of him in his new pants.

They’re not really Black & White

April here.  I wanted to share with you a project Mandy and I did together.   The recipient knows the gender of her soon-to-arrive baby… but asked we keep it a secret.  For now, check out our work in Black & White & once baby arrives, we’ll share the colors with you.

Mandy custom dyed yarn.  Here are some photos of her process:

I made the diaper cover & Mandy made the booties & hat for this new baby.

We’ll update when baby arrives to show of Mandy’s excellent colorwork!

New knitters!

So, some exciting news for NachoMamas Knits: we’ll be having some fellow knitters featured here as well. Keep an eye out for intros and pics from these gals in the coming days.
